Membership of the Institute may be attained either through the successful completion of an Institute-accredited course or through the experience route by demonstrating the requisite knowledge, skills, and competence prescribed by the Institute.
The Institute has three grades of membership:
Associate (ACIArb): Entry-level membership, obtainable through an introductory CIArb course (or equivalent) or relevant dispute resolution experience.
Member (MCIArb): For practitioners with intermediate knowledge and experience, obtainable through CIArb training programmes, equivalent qualifications, or substantial practical experience in dispute resolution.
Fellow (FCIArb): The highest grade of membership, reserved for experienced practitioners who have demonstrated advanced expertise, significant practical experience, and professional competence in arbitration, adjudication, or mediation.
Progression through the grades reflects increasing levels of knowledge, experience, and professional standing in alternative dispute resolution.
